SpaceM2 applies automotive manufacturing principles to residential construction, using POJI's digital dimensioning services.

"We build houses in the same way you build cars. In standardised platforms but with well-thought-out optional extras. The result is attractive houses that are cost-effective," says Peter Lindberg, CEO of SpaceM2, who engages POJI to get an efficient digital calculation service.

SpaceM2 is a fifty-person company that manufactures wooden house modules in Kvänum.

One of the company's founders, Christian Olsson, has experience from the automotive industry and wanted to bring his knowledge to the construction sector. He created a factory to manufacture modular-built houses.

The company's CEO, Peter Lindberg, has a background in industrial building and factory production and has brought the standardisation principle from there.

"We have developed a platform with construction solutions and a line with optional extras that allows variation. All processes are standardised and thereby quality-assured and cost-effective, but the optional extras mean that the result can be as attractive as you like," explains Peter Lindberg.

Purchasing digital dimensioning from a 3D BIM model

SpaceM2 works digitally throughout the process, from drawing board to finished house, and buys in many services along the way. Including POJI's digital dimensioning based on a 3D BIM model.

"POJI goes in and works directly in the architect's 3D base material and this saves us an incredible amount of time. We don't just get load calculations and can dimension everything at the same time, we can also quantity-calculate the material requirements without extra rounds for each step."

"Since several stages in the calculation process are compressed we can steer the process with great precision, produce the right material – in the right quantity – and put in the right people at the right time."

Logistics determines efficiency

Logistics is often what determines efficiency in a building project and here Peter Lindberg sees that the digital calculation POJI performs fits like a glove with SpaceM2's future-adapted way of building housing.

"Since several stages in the calculation process are compressed we can steer the process with great precision, produce the right material – in the right quantity – and put in the right people at the right time."

"An extra bonus is naturally that we can minimise material waste, something that is important both for our customer's cost picture and for the environment."
