Custom lifting beam replaces expensive mobile crane

POJI engineers a CE-certified lifting beam for Karlstad Sjötrafik, eliminating the need for costly annual crane hire.
Normally we help house factories save money with analysis methods for structural calculations. But now and then we also do other exciting assignments, like this lifting beam for Karlstad Sjötrafik AB.
Every year they have many boats that need to go in and out of the water. For every lift they were previously forced to hire an expensive mobile crane, which "amounts to quite a lot of money over a year", according to Dan Hedegren, CEO of the company.
To solve the problem he bought a timber-gripping machine and got help from POJI to construct and dimension a CE-marked lifting beam.
"We will recoup the money within two years, and since the beam is CE-marked we can also use it for commercial lifts," Dan explains.
Hedbergs Mekaniska in Skattkärr manufactured and painted the beam.
A similar lifting device intended for lifting housing modules is the Landkrabban, which you can read more about here.
